Anyone remotely interested in the heritage of Black dance music and dance music culture in the UK will at some point have to come across this man's name - Colin Curtis. Colin is one of THE most notable DJs of the UK Music scene, he is one of the pioneers of the Northern soul scene in the early seventies (as recently featured in feature film Northern Soul and documentary for the big screen) as well as a Jazz Funk Soul & Dance pioneer in the late 1970s along with Paul Murphy & Dr Bob Jones, and his ground breaking sessions are credited with influencing people such as Gilles Peterson and many others with his mixture of Fusion, BeBop, Brazilian, Latin & Nu Jazz.Join us for this Soulshake retrospective special of such pinacle sounds from iconic clubs like The Highland rooms - Blackpool mecca, through Locarno Bham and Palais in Notts with a whole host of other sounds all shared via Colin - one man, one mic and a serious ear for selection.
