On Sunday 20th March, JazzCotech are bringing to the Shiftless decks another living Legend DJ who has championed many musical club styles through the last 5 decades.

Colin Curtis is one of THE most notable DJs of the UK Music scene, Colin Curtis is one of the pioneers of Northern soul scene in the early seventies as recently featured in the feature film Northern Soul and documentary for the big screen as well as a Jazz Dance pioneer in the late 1970s along with Paul Murphy & Dr Bob Jones, and his ground breaking sessions are credited with influencing people such as Gilles Peterson and many others with his mixture of Fusion, BeBop, Brazilian, Latin & Nu Jazz.

Joining Colin behind the decks is no other than DJ Perry Louis who needs no introduction. As front man of Shiftless Shuffle and leader of the JazzCotech Dancers, Co-producer and compilation compiler of the Messin Around dance floor series, Perry has spun his Vinyl around the world for many years, as well as getting busy on the Dance floor. These two will make a unique paring of knowledge and quality music for the dance floor so you definitely don’t want to miss this session!

Shiftless Shuffle is a unique Jazz Dance session that combines a 1 hour class in the specialist Street-Fusion Jazz Dance style with a 5 hour club session that follows the class. The class is open to novices and experienced Dancers alike and will be tailored to all needs on the day, providing the opportunity to learn the rhythmical, intricate footwork and so-called drop moves that are iconic and exclusive to this style. Teaching it are the masters themselves, The JazzCotech Dancers, who have danced with all the greats from Incognito to James Brown and Roy Ayers.

The ensuing club session has people flocking to it from all corners of the UK. Billed as “the coolest thing to do in London on a Sunday” by Time Out, Shiftless Shuffle is the place to hang out, be seen and be inspired to strut your stuff to some incredible music, or simply kick back with a drink and enjoy watching the many Dancers do their thing.
