Soul Underground @ The Rainbow Digbeth Birmingham

Here is a review from what was another great night down at The Rainbow
in Digbeth Birmingham and hosted by Uber and Soul Underground.
Thanks to everyone who made it down and create the unique "family"
atmosphere that once again continued into the early hours.Highly recomended
watch out for the Xmas Party on December 24th with Soul Underground featuring guest dj's Paul Goldsmith and Mark Jordan. The Uber guys also offer an exceptional package that includes
Phil Asher and Birmingham's own Andy Ward.Don't sleep on this see you guys there.
Anyway although its late I just wanted to pass on our usual thanks for your unfailing support on Saturday ..I know that you all say you are coming but I honestly never think you will til' I see you all and then I'm just amazed that you keep coming back ..unreal ..thank you all so very much.

Its lovely reading your feedback..we had a lovely night made all the more brilliant because of all of you .

Musically the dancefloor says it all , I just gave up in the end because it was too packed and when you're only little that's not always a good thing
I'm sure at several times during the course of the night we had more in the Bar than next door and they all seemed to be really enjoying it alongside us more 'mature' party goers..really nice friendly crowd with no attitude just a longing to dance and dance they did ..all night long

I have to say a huge thanks to the DJ's as ever , Paul fitted like a glove with a truly eclectic set ,he was very nervous but you wouldn't have known that as he settled down very quickly and played some fine selections of nu soul and jazz building throughout .
You could feel the air of expectancy for Mr Curtis and as ever he didn't fail ,despite a few problems with sound clarity he proved once again to be the master of the turntables with an uplifting set that kept a bouncing dancefloor from start to finish ..I've no clue what he played and knowing Col I doubt I ever will
What I will say is that the accolade he received at the end of his set said much more than I could ever express really ...thank you Colin

Jamie was spot on as ever and I thought Glenn was extra special on Saturday with some brilliantly memorable moments between him Paul, J and him and Col.
I did pop in to see Atjazz playing to a very friendly up for it younger crowd and along with the residents he was keeping things really soulful in the Courtyard.

I have to say as well how lovely it was to have Fish and his Simply Soul Stall in the house too ,always a very welcome inclusion ..thank you Mark

All in all then it turned out to be another very memorable event for us ..not least of all because of you .. you really are the best people .

I know how much it costs you to travel all that way , book hotels ,spend on the night and I honestly cant believe that you keep coming back time and again .
I've been saying it for 8 years and more and I still say it ..we never ever take any one of you for granted ..not
ever and all of us are so so grateful for that really and sincerely especially as there are so many other nights on offer.

There were quite a few new people in on Saturday and the feedback from them was just lovely ..not just about the event but about the fact that you all make them feel so part of things and included by your warmth and friendly vibes .. it just makes me dead proud that we attract such lovely people so give yourselves a lot of credit for that ,you're the very best..

So another party ends .I am already beginning to work on the next one and if you picked up one of the little pre flyers you'll know how special it is for a little Christmas present for you all..in the Bar we will be showcasing a Starpoint Thursday Night special with Paul Goldsmith and Mark Jordan taking care of the tunes ..we have a very special friend in Lasse from Sweden making the journey so it seemed polite to ask him to bring a few Cd's to play..and if you saw him play at the EMS party you will know that he'll be perfect for SU .Jamie and Glenn will be in support ...

If house is your thing then the boys from Uber have a very special treat with two fine producer /DJ's in the Courtyard spotlight in the way of Restless Soul's Phil Asher together with Andy Ward and they will be bringing vocalists from their latest project. It has the makings of a fine Christmas party so if you enjoyed Saturday then we very much hope to see you again

Meanwhile here's yet some more pics from Saturday :
