Only five weeks tomorrow until the biggest event in our history begins - the 50th instalment of the Southport Weekender! As the anticipation mounts, we are pleased to be bringing you some more very exciting news - two very important dates to put in your diary!
We hope you're sitting tightly. Today we can finally share with you plans that have been brewing for almost 12 months. In 2010, at the last minute, we moved our historic party to Butlin's Minehead and started a new journey in the evolution of the UK Weekender concept, bringing line ups never before witnessed on our scene. Our current and future home in Minehead has made musical dreams come true, contented site development and a greater capacity allowing for such international stars as Jill Scott, Mos Def and Chaka Khan to be welcomed to our party. However, we moved here so quickly that there was some unfinished business up in Southport. We never got to say goodbye. So, after months of planning, we can today reveal that - for one weekend only - we will be returning to Pontins to bring you...
SOUTHPORT 'HERITAGE' WEEKENDER

For those who made history with us on that fabled site, and for those who've only ever heard of what went before - it's your time. Pontins has been taken over now and the new company Britannia have invested heavily in the site. For one weekend only, as part of our BIG 50 celebration year, we will be transforming the resort into the Southport Weekender that gave this legendary party its name. A 'Heritage' line up that will leave jaws-dropping and eyes filled with tears on the dance floor is just around the corner. Mark the dates in your diaries, and sit tight for the big line up announcement soon. We already have some fantastic Southport legends booked and in the bag, but as always please feel free to write to us with any special memories you would like us to consider and of course DJs you would like to see rocking the Powerhouse, Beat Bar, Funkbase and Connoisseur's Corner.
'CAMELOT' at Park Hall

We did promise a spectacular year of events, and in addition to the Heritage Weekender, we can also now finally announce the official summer UK gathering of the international musical family. On Saturday 30th August - Sunday 31st August 2014, we will be taking over Park Hall in Chorley (near Preston) for a new event called CAMELOT literally just off the M6 and easily accessible from all over the UK, the venue will hold 1,500 of the Southport family in four different indoor spaces connected with a lovely courtyard. We have also secured 120 hotel rooms onsite and another large hotel just two minutes walk away.
The party will start at 1pm on Saturday 30th August and run straight through until 6am Sunday morning. Yes it will be a SunceBeat reunion like no other, yes it will have a world-class line up that only we could deliver, and yes it will be absolutely unmissable! More details coming very soon!
FRANKIE KNUCKLES
We were truly shocked to hear the news this week of a dear friend and international icon of the house music community passing. Frankie's last ever tweet was to say how much he was looking forward to joining us in Croatia this summer, and our flyers, posters and passes with his name have already gone to print, but we will be paying tribute at our events through the year to a founder who made so much of what we love possible with his music, vision and charisma.
We have been listening to David Morales and Dimitri From Paris' moving tributes this week, a glimpse of the magic this huge inspiration left behind. Check them out here and here.
